Obwohl der artikel etwas schwach anfängt (in geschäften soll man schuhe tragen), steht doch relativ viel richtiges drin (auf englisch). Der artikel ist wohl eher dem „gorpcore“ trend zu verdanken, wo man in Seattle natürlich näher am wald ist als in Kalifornien…

Gorp: Good Old Raisins and Peanuts = Studentenfutter

Gorpcore: Modetrend (vermutlich nicht ganz ohne deutschen einfluss :D) sich in schmuckloser outdoor-kleidung und funktionsjacken zu kleiden, so a la Jack Wolfskin. Und auch die aktivitäten nach draußen zu spazieren zu gehen (Hiking), wandern (Trekking) und Camping.

Weil man wohl in den USA beim Campen immer Studentenfutter dabei hat heißt das dort Gorpcore.

Der ursprüngliche artikel wurde auf MSN gepostet, das wurde aber editiert, die ursprüngliche verbindung Microsoft → Seattle → Nordwesten der USA mit viel Wald und regnerischem Wetter (Silicon Forest) ist dadurch verloren gegangen.
